Reclaimed Wood Wall

Josh making progress on wall

Brooks thinks his wall is cool!

Finished!

Industrial lights for bedtime stories

Galvanized gas piping for curtain rods

-We have been busy at work on Brooks's big boy room. I have had this vision of what I wanted it to look like, but knew I needed my handy husband's help. I wanted to find some reclaimed wood and put it on his wall behind his bed as a focal piece. I first thought we could use old pallets. But then my mom said her neighbor was replacing her old fence! That would be much easier! We ended up picking out our favorite pieces and took home 90 boards that were 6 ft each! I power washed them to get off dirt and algae. I then scrubbed with a cleaner to get off rest of algae. Here's where I needed Josh's handy work. He did an amazing job of cutting the wood different lengths and nailing them to wall with varying colors and lengths. He did an awesome job!!! We then hung old industrial lights by his bed for our night time stories. For his curtain rods, we used galvanized gas piping to keep the industrial feel. I now have to finish his curtains and his room is done for now!! Brooks LOVES his big boy room and feels so special. I want a wall like that in the master room now!

What we've been up to this summer....

I like to ramp my cars off mommy's tummy when she is resting

I've been a big help planting flowers with Mommy

And mulching with Daddy

I'm a huge help at the grocery store with Mommy

I got to visit our local fire station!

I took swim lessons...not sure about putting my head under the water

Grammy, PawPaw and Cousin Miranda came to visit

We've been out to eat....lots ;)

I've been hanging out with my Cousin Oliver

I went to my Aunt Tara's soccer camp...even though I was a little young.

We got a new van to fit our soon-to-be family of 5 (plus 2 dogs!)

We like going to the Cool Creek Concert Series.
I was cooling Daddy off with some ice!

We've been to the park lots!

I had fun at the Fourth of July Parade with my best friend Davis.

I saw my first movie! It was funny.

-We have had a fun summer despite that fact that I can't do things quite as easily carrying these twins ;) Brooks has had fun playing with his friends, hanging out at Grandma's, riding his bike and motorized Hummer, going to the lake, playing at the park, listening to outside concerts, helping out around the house, going to movies, enjoying yummy food...etc.  His world is going to change reallly soon and I kind of makes me sad that my days with just my little man are soon going to be up.  I know it will only be a positive change in the long run...but change is always hard for me.  I just feel so lucky to be his mom.  I love seeing him and Josh play "rough" together and soaking up all his knowledge.   He's going to be such a great big brother...once he adjusts to not being the only child.
-On a side note, Brooks had a follow-up Allergy appointment and had the skin test again.  He remains allergic to tree nuts (mostly hazelnut, almonds and cashews) and eggs.  He has not been doing his nightly breathing treatments since May to see how he responds when he gets sick. So far he has been great...but this fall when he goes back to school will be the real test!

More twin updates

34 weeks pregnant

35 weeks pregnant

- As you can see...I look like I'm going to pop! I've had several strangers say, "any day now?" Or "you look like your on the way to the hospital". When I explain that I'm pregnant with twins then they say, " no way! You look great for twins!" They are probably just back tracking then;). I have had more comments on how cute my belly is by strangers than I ever did with Brooks. Probably because you can't miss it!!! Brooks also comments on the growing belly. He still kisses it often and has named Baby A, "Brownies" and Baby B, "Peaches". It's pretty cute to hear him talk about them. Overall he is really excited and says he's lucky to have two babies. (For now I'll take it!). He has been acting up however since he turned 3 1/2 years old. He doesn't listen as well and doesn't seem to mind getting into trouble. He's a little more aggressive when excited and has a harder time controlling his emotions. I'm hoping its just a phase and partly because he knows change is near. He's still so much fun and really a good kid. He's just challenging our parenting skills;)
-The twins continue to look good and at our 34 week 5 day ultrasound Baby A weighed 5 lb and HB was 154. Baby B weighed 4 lb 7 oz and HB was 143. I'm hoping to make it to my 38 th week to get these babies as big as I can!! Only one more week of work!

Pregnancy Catch Up

Our Twins at 24 wk 5 days

-Here's a little update on the babies up to 32 weeks.  I'll update to my current status on next post when I get a chance!  I have been so busy and I tend to post more pictures on Instagram now.  However, I still plan to keep this blog up for family and friends who are still interested ;)  Also it is so nice for the kids to look back on years from now.
-The twins are growing well and very active.  I am getting noticeably bigger by the week!  I never imagined my tummy could stretch this much!  I've really been having a good pregancy considering there are 2 babies inside my tummy!  My main complaints have been pain where my abs have seperated (but this is currently better), occasional pain in pubic symphysis, and swelling.  The swelling is getting worse by the week in my legs.  By the end of the day my feet and ankles are SO puffy!  At night time my arms go to sleep and I have carpal tunel during the day.  My night splints seem to help some.  I need to sleep with about 6 pillows for positioning of my belly ;)  Sleeping is not the best, but I'm managing.  I tend to get up and pee every 2 hours.  I get SO excited when I actually sleep 3 hours without waking. I guess this is my life for the next severel months anyways ;)  I am still working but recently dropped down to 3 days a week.  I plan to work until 36 weeks and then have a few weeks off (if they don't come by then) before I delivery.
-We have ultrasounds every 4 weeks to check on the growth of the twins. For most all the ultrasounds so far  Baby A has been a little bigger with HB around the mid 150s.  Baby B is slightly smaller and HB around lower 140s.   Josh tends to think they are both girls and I go back and forth between boy/girl and boy/boy.  Who knows!  It is driving Josh crazy not knowing.  It is helping me get through these long months.  It is hard trying to decorate the nursery and figuring out names.  I did find some fun sheets for the cribs and I will post more on that later as well.
